JAMESTOWN, ND (NewsDakota.com) – It’s never too early to start planning for your farm and ranch succession.

The NDSU Extension Service offered “Design Your Succession Plan” workshops for farming and ranching families to equip them with the tools to start their succession plan and shape their future business ownership.

Stutsman County Extension Officer Alicia Harstad says this workshop gives you the resources to start planning and move forward.

She added that the earlier you start, the better prepared you will be and feel.

Extension departments across the state are hosting these workshops, but a virtual class is also being offered on March 3.

The Stutsman County NDSU Extension Service will hold its workshop March 15-22 in Jamestown.

Extension officer Christina Rittenbach says participants should seek to attend both days of the workshop.

Participants will receive a binder full of resources and planning tools to use well after the workshop. Rittenbach says that from there, they want farmers and ranchers to continue developing their plan long after the workshop is over.

The deadline to register for the workshop in Stutsman County is March 1. The cost is $125 for the first family member and $50 for each additional participating family member. You can enroll by contacting the NDSU Extension Service in Stutsman County at (701) 252-9030, stopping at 502 10th Ave. SE or by searching the NDSU Extension Service website.
